Making a Booking
This guide walks you through the complete process of booking a venue on OpenVenue.
Bookings are made for a specific **space** (the bookable unit) within a venue when applicable.
Before You Book
Make sure you have:
- ✅ An OpenVenue account (create one at signup)
- ✅ Reviewed the venue details and policies
Step 1: Start from a Venue
To start a booking:
- Go to a venue page (from `/venues`)
- Click **Book This Venue**
If you’re not signed in, you’ll be redirected to the login page and then returned to the booking flow.
Step 2: Enter Your Booking Details
On the booking form (`/venues/[venueId]/book`), you’ll provide details for the space you want to book:
- **Full Name**
- **Email**
- **Phone**
- **Number of Guests**
- **Start Time** and **End Time**
- **Internal Notes** (optional)
- **Special Requests** (optional)
Step 3: (Optional) Set Up a Recurring Booking
If your event repeats:
- Enable **This is a recurring event**
- Choose a recurrence pattern (weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly)
- Choose the number of occurrences
Step 4: Review the Booking Summary
Before continuing, confirm the summary (including the total).
Step 5: Continue to Payment
When you click **Continue to Payment**, OpenVenue creates your booking and redirects you to your booking details page (`/bookings/[bookingId]`) to complete payment.
Booking Confirmation
After successful payment, you’ll see your booking confirmed and you’ll be redirected back to **My Bookings**.
Booking Confirmed!
Your booking has been confirmed. A confirmation email has been sent to your email address.
You can always access your bookings at `/bookings`.

What to Expect
- **My Bookings** - Your booking appears in your bookings list
Preparing for Your Event
- Review the venue's check-in instructions
- Note the venue address and parking info
- Arrive on time for your booking
